This class will be hosted on an open-source online meeting service named Jitsi Meet. Kindly read the following to optimize your online class experience.
There is no software to install – Jitsi runs in your web browser. Google Chrome provides the most reliable connection and Firefox can also work. I do not recommend Apple’s Safari browser. Please use a desktop PC/Mac, or a laptop PC or Mac. (Note: Jitsi is available as an app for iOS and Android devices, however I do not recommend using mobile devices or tablets for our classes.)
When you click on the Jitsi link above you’ll receive several notifications, depending on your operating system and flavour of the web browser.
When prompted, click “Allow” access to your camera and microphone;
If prompted to install an extension for Google Calendar and/or Office 365, you can cancel and click ‘do not remind me again.’ This extension is not required for our sessions.
You will then be prompted to enter your name – please do so. Lastly you will see a blue button labelled “Join Meeting.” Click that button and you’re in!
During the class I ask that you keep your microphone muted, unless you have a question or concern. Tap the “m” key on your keyboard to mute or un-mute your microphone. I have attached a PDF containing some useful Jitsi keyboard shortcuts that will work when your web browser window is in focus.
